Engineering, ecology and genuine community relationships — brought to bear on the energy transition.
Ashley Bland
Managing Director
Constructive Energy Pty Ltd
I founded Constructive Energy in 2018 with a simple purpose: to make the energy transition work for regional Australia. Most of my work involves helping local governments, landholders and investors navigate the genuinely complex business of building solar and battery storage projects — from the first question to the moment the plant is generating.
My background is unusual for the energy sector. I grew up on an organic farm in central NSW, which is where I learned to observe the natural world and the consequences of human choices on it. I left the farm to complete a Bachelor of Engineering (Natural Resources) and have since worked across mining, agriculture, conservation, water, waste, construction and energy. That breadth shapes how I approach projects: technically rigorous, but always with an eye on what actually works for the people and communities involved.
I'm a holistic, system-based thinker. Before founding CE I oversaw the design and construction of The Flannery Centre — an $8.5 million green skills training facility built to the highest sustainable design principles — and spent years building sustainability programs for government and community clients. I understand that energy projects don't exist in isolation. They sit inside complex community, commercial and regulatory environments, and that's where I do my best work.
I'm based near Bathurst in regional NSW and I walk the talk: my family lives in an off-grid, high-performance green home. My clients tend to stay with me because I bring both technical depth and genuine regional relationships — and because they deal directly with me throughout, not with a project coordinator.
Get in TouchConstructive Energy is an independent energy advisory and project management firm specialising in solar PV, battery storage and grid connection for regional and rural clients. We are a lean, focused practice — which means our clients work directly with Ashley, not with an account manager or project coordinator.
Our work spans the full project lifecycle: from Renewable Energy Action Plans and investment feasibility, through grid connection and approvals, to construction administration and commissioning. We have managed projects connecting into both Essential Energy (Chapter 5A) and TransGrid networks, at scales ranging from 5MW council-owned solar farms to 300MW utility-scale battery storage.
We are completely independent. We have no supplier affiliations, no preferred contractor relationships, and no financial interest in the equipment you ultimately choose. Our only interest is in the project working for you.
